2025 Hoto project highlights

In 2025, Hoto Engineering focused on the energy, chemicals, and new materials sectors, delivering multiple globally pioneering and industry-demonstrative projects through professional technical expertise and project management capabilities.

January:

Hoto Engineering signed a contract for the process package of the 100,000-ton/year polyolefin elastomer (H-POE) unit under Phase I of Shaanxi Yulin Energy & Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd.’s epoxy resin integrated project. The H-POE technology was co-developed by Hangzhou Xingchuan and Hoto Engineering, with Hoto responsible for process package development, engineering design, and related design work.

February:

China National Aviation Fuel Group Southern Storage & Transportation Co., Ltd.’s Zhanjiang Base Project commenced operations on February 16. Hoto provided comprehensive technical services - from feasibility studies to basic and detailed engineering design. On November 5, the China Chemical Construction Enterprise Association officially awarded the project the 2025 “5A Quality Chemical Construction Project” designation in its annual quality evaluation.

May:

Zhongjing Petrochemical’s high-end polypropylene plant, engineered by Hoto, started up and produced qualified polypropylene on May 29. Hoto has extensive experience in polypropylene plant projects, having delivered multiple units both domestically and internationally.

July:

The world’s largest green hydrogen-to-ammonia project - Envision’s Chifeng Green Hydrogen & Ammonia Project - successfully launched its first phase (320,000 tons/year) on July 8. As the first commercially operated green hydrogen-to-ammonia facility of its scale globally, the project benefited from Hoto’s strengths in low-carbon technologies and end-to-end precision project control, serving as the consulting planner and engineering designer for the entire industrial park.

July:

The world’s largest solid-state hydrogen storage project came online: the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) Da’an integrated wind-solar-to-green-hydrogen-to-ammonia demonstration project in Jilin province. Featuring four world-record innovations - including the largest DC microgrid-powered electrolysis system and the largest solid-state hydrogen storage system - the project included a 48,000 Nm³ solid-state hydrogen storage unit jointly developed and EPC-delivered by Hoto and China Electric Power Research (Xuzhou) Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd., which successfully demonstrated full hydrogen absorption, storage, and release functions.

November:

Shanneng New Materials (Zibo) Co., Ltd.’s 100,000-ton/year nano-calcium carbonate plant achieved successful first-time startup, producing particles sized 40-70 nanometers on November 11. Utilizing leading domestic nano-calcium carbonate technology, this is the largest such facility in Shandong province. As the EPC contractor, Hoto ensured high-quality project delivery through professional execution and seamless team coordination.

December:

The world’s first 50,000-ton/year syngas bio-fermentation plant for anhydrous ethanol - engineered and managed by Hoto - successfully completed full-process commissioning, producing high-quality anhydrous ethanol and microbial protein on December 7. This innovative process uniquely co-converts syngas and CO₂. Hoto delivered an integrated solution covering engineering design, technology integration, and construction management to ensure successful implementation.

December:

On December 13, Hoto’s engineered 500,000-ton/year industrial waste-oil-to-biodiesel-and-sustainable-aviation-fuel (SAF) plant for Blue Whale Bioenergy (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. achieved successful startup and produced qualified products. Designated a National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Demonstration Project for Advanced Green & Low-Carbon Technologies and a key provincial project in Zhejiang, the facility processes 500,000 tons of waste cooking oil annually, yielding over 420,000 tons of biofuels and reducing CO₂ emissions by 1.2 million tons per year - meeting international benchmarks for performance and sustainability.
