Hoto's Zhangjiakou green hydrogen EPC project goes operational

Hoto Engineering's Zhangjiakou green hydrogen EPC project commenced operations on January 28, 2022, marking a significant milestone in the company's pursuit of green energy solutions.

This project, aimed at producing green hydrogen, has been successfully launched, showcasing Hoto's commitment to sustainable energy initiatives.

During the Winter Olympics, beginning on February 4, this project will play a pivotal role by supplying 50 percent of the green hydrogen required for fuel cell vehicles in the Zhangjiakou competition area.

The early commencement of sales of green hydrogen externally underscores the project’s immediate impact and success, highlighting the dedication and expertise of the Hoto team.

Following the completion of the Baofeng Energy project, the Zhangjiakou Green Hydrogen initiative represents another noteworthy achievement for Hoto.

This project signifies a significant breakthrough in the field of electrolytic water hydrogen production, further establishing Hoto's leadership position in the industry.

Looking ahead, Hoto plans to leverage its extensive experience and recent advancements in electrolytic water hydrogen production to drive further growth and innovation in future projects. By integrating these developments, Hoto aims to contribute significantly to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions on a larger scale.

The construction of the Zhangjiakou green hydrogen project commenced on June 15, 2021, and within a remarkably short span of six and a half months, a state-of-the-art factory was erected.

Powered by onshore wind energy, this facility will initially cater to the hydrogen needs of over 600 fuel cell vehicles during the Winter Olympics in Zhangjiakou.

Subsequently, the produced hydrogen will be utilized in public and commercial transportation sectors across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, aligning with efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable transportation solutions.

Wael Sawan, director of Shell's Integrated Natural Gas, Renewable Energy, and Energy Solutions Business, emphasized the significance of this project, stating, "This is Shell's largest capacity project among all green hydrogen projects and aligns perfectly with Shell’s ‘Empower Progress’ business strategy, further consolidating our leading position in the hydrogen energy sector."

Bai Jing, Director of Zhangjiakou Municipal Development and Reform Commission, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of hydrogen energy in accelerating the city’s transition to green and low-carbon energy sources.

He emphasized the project’s role in supporting the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and facilitating the realization of green Olympics goals.

In summary, the completion of the Zhangjiakou green hydrogen project not only signifies Hoto’s contribution to national “dual carbon” goals but also represents a significant milestone as the company progresses towards its vision of becoming a globally renowned engineering powerhouse.
