2024 Hoto project highlights
In 2024, Hoto Engineering participated in the design of multiple energy, chemical, and new materials projects, many of which utilized proprietary technologies or innovative technologies co-developed with partners. Hoto is firmly on the path of high-quality development, promoting the efficient implementation and sustainable development of projects through continuous technological innovation and deep cooperation.
March: Commissioning of CNOOC Ningbo Daxie Petrochemical's 60,000 tonnes per year 1-butene unit
Hoto Engineering is delighted to announce the successful commissioning of the 60 KTA 1-butene unit at CNOOC Ningbo Daxie Petrochemical Ltd on March 2, 2024. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the adoption of the jointly licensed "Selective Hydrogenation + Super Fractionation + 2-Butene Isomerization + Etherification Deisobutenization + Precision Distillation" integrated process, known as B-TIO Pro. The B-TIO Pro technology boasts broad feedstock adaptability, high 1-butene yield, superior product quality, low overall energy consumption, and operational flexibility.
May: Hoto wins bid for China's first large-scale solid-state hydrogen storage project
On May 25, Hoto won the bid for China's first large-scale solid-state hydrogen storage project. On Nov 6, the 48,000 Nm3 solid-state hydrogen storage facility of Jilin Da’an Jidian Green Hydrogen Energy Co Ltd commenced construction, with Hoto serving as the EPC general contractor for the entire project management. After commissioning, this facility will achieve solid-state storage of hydrogen produced from the Da’an wind-solar green hydrogen synthesis ammonia demonstration project.
July: Hoto is selected to develop DMTP Process Design Package
Hoto has been selected by Shaanxi Yuneng Energy & Chemical New Material Co Ltd (Shaanxi Yuneng), a large Chinese State-owned enterprise, to develop the PDP of the DICP-Methanol-to-Propylene (DMTP) for its epoxy resin integrated project. The contract signing ceremony was held on July 27, 2024 in Yulin, Shaanxi province. The DMTP technology is a type of proprietary process technology converting methanol to propylene, which is jointly developed by Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Hoto Engineering.
August: PP unit of Yuntianhua launches operation
On Aug 8, 2024, the polypropylene plant (capacity: 70,000 tons per year) of Yunnan Yuntianhua Petrochemical Co Ltd (Yuntianhua) which uses Hoto’s HPP technology successfully launched operation, producing quality products. As a selected PP technology licensor and contractor of the project, Hoto’s team supported the client on the site during the whole commissioning, which eventually led to successful launching of operation.
September: Hoto wins bid for project of Shandong Energy New Materials Co Ltd
On Sept 19, Hoto won the bid for the EPC general contracting of the 50,000 tonnes per year nanocalcite project by Shandong Energy New Materials Co Ltd.
October: Hoto participates in world's largest coal chemical project
Hoto has joined the world’s largest coal chemical project – the 15 million tonnes per year clean and efficient conversion of coal with fractionation project of Yulin Chemical Co Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co Ltd. The company participated in the foundation design kick-off ceremony and process package signing event for the olefins, aromatics, and further processing phase one project held in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province on Oct 15.
November: Hoto participates in world's first 30,000-ton H-POE plant
The groundbreaking ceremony for the world’s first 30,000 tons per year industrial plant dedicated to the production of hyperbranched polyolefin elastomers (H-POE) was held in Longyou, Quzhou city, Zhejiang province on Nov 29. Hoto, as the project designer and general contractor, has participated in this landmark construction.
December: Mechanical completion handover ceremony for 50,000 tonnes per year anhydrous ethanol project using synthesis gas biofermentation single-step method
On Dec 9, the mechanical completion handover ceremony for Henan Sailongtu Biotechnology Co Ltd's 50,000 tonnes per year anhydrous ethanol project using the synthesis gas biofermentation single-step method was held, marking the entry into the commissioning and trial production stage. This project is the world's first industrial demonstration project introduced by Hoto, and it is also a typical case of integration among patent holders, general contractors, and local resources.
December: Fujian Zhongjing Petrochemical 1.5 million tonnes per year high-end polypropylene project handover
On Dec 30, Hoto undertook the handover of the Fujian Zhongjing Petrochemical Co Ltd's global largest 1.5 million tonnes per year high-end polypropylene project. This project boasts the largest capacity among similar installations worldwide while occupying the least amount of land.

The signing ceremony for the process design package contract of a POE facility took place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on January 10, 2025.
